SGI O2 system PROM socket adapter
Socket adapter for the O2 system PROM, so that the flash can be easily removed and programmed externally when needed.
Installation instructions:
-remove Dallas socket
-remove flash IC
-solder the two FFCs
-solder Dallas socket back
-install adapter
-install Dallas IC
-connect the two FFCs
-install flash IC
Attached SGI_O2_SYSTEM_PROM_SOCKET_ADAPTER_A00_RELEASE.zip archive.
It contains the following:
1.SCH_BRD – contains editable schematic and board file. Format is Eagle CAD, but they can be imported in other tools, like Kicad.
2.SCH_PDF- schematic in pdf format.
3.P&P – pick and place files
4.BOM
5.GERBER – gerber files
Notes:
-the two FFCs are not identical, pay attention at the photos to see how they need to be installed (both FFCs and the adapter PCBs are marked with L and R)
-header pins that plug into the Dallas socket need to be the machined type, round
-not possible to install R10k/R12k CPU module when the socket adapter is installed (not really an issue as anyone using this will likely use it for RM7**** development).
